What we build
A software development company in Utrecht, from platform to sensor
Software has to deliver something: less manual work, a product you can sell, customers who can sort things out themselves. So we first ask what your software needs to achieve and for whom, and only then choose the technology. Here is what we build:
- Platforms and portals. Customer portals, internal platforms and web applications where your customers, partners or staff look up information, submit requests or sort things out themselves. We build them and keep maintaining them if you want us to.
- Integrations. Integrations between the systems you already use, such as your ERP, CRM or accounting software, for example AFAS or Twinfield. Data then moves from one system to the next automatically, with no retyping.
- Taking over existing software. Has the original builder moved on, or does your supplier no longer have time for it? Then we take over the technical management and further development, from web platform to iOS app. We start by mapping how the software is put together and what it depends on, then carry on building.
- Hardware and firmware. Does your product need a device of its own, such as a sensor? Then we also design the electronics, the housing and the firmware, and build the platform that processes the measurements and shows them in dashboards.
Hardware and software from one partner means a single team that oversees the whole chain, from sensor to dashboard. If something goes wrong, you don't have to work out whether the device, the firmware or the platform is to blame: we know all three.

From idea to working software
Business case and design
We start with your business, not the technology. What should the software achieve, for whom, and how will you know it works? Then we draw up a design and a plan in manageable steps. If something is still technically uncertain, we build a prototype first, so you know it can be done before you invest further. By the end you know what we will build, in what order and why.
Building in short iterations
We build in short cycles and show you working software at the end of each one. You help decide what comes next. That lets you adjust course before decisions are set in stone, and you always know where the project stands. Colleagues at Chief review the work before it goes to production, and you talk directly to the developers doing the building.
Live, with a fixed release route
We take the software live and document how a new version comes about: build, test, review, release. That way a release never depends on one person: several developers at Chief can build and release it. We do the same for software we take over from another party, so new features reach your users reliably.
Support and further development
After go-live we stay involved if you want us to. We keep the software technically up to date, fix what users run into and keep building on new requirements. We modernise the underlying technology in good time, so your platform is still current years from now.
