The Royal Dutch Touring Club (ANWB) is an association that represents the interests of its members in the areas of mobility, vacations, and leisure through a unique combination of advocacy and service-oriented activities. In its work, ANWB aims to contribute to the sustainable development of society.
ANWB Reizen is reintroducing FOX Reizen as part of its offerings. With FOX, as an expert in guided tours, ANWB Reizen aims to reach a broader audience and provide travelers with an even more diverse selection of adventurous and cultural trips.
For the development of the new FOX Reizen platform, additional capacity was needed to efficiently build the frontend. The goal was to create a modern, user-friendly, and scalable frontend that perfectly aligns with the needs of travelers.
Chief provided two experienced professionals who strengthened the ANWB team in the development of the FOX Reizen frontend. This frontend is built using multiple micro frontends, ensuring a modular and flexible architecture.
The frontend was developed using React and TypeScript, ensuring strong type safety and improved code quality. For styling, styled-components was used, while application state is managed with Redux. To document and visualize all components, Storybook was implemented.
The development process was automated using Azure DevOps, enabling a streamlined CI/CD pipeline. The frontend is deployed as a scalable solution in Microsoft Azure, allowing the platform to seamlessly scale with growing demand.
Despite a tight deadline, from the project's inception to December 2024, the Chief team not only met the deadline but even exceeded expectations. This was achieved through quick decision-making and effective collaboration, ensuring that ANWB encountered no additional challenges during development.
Beyond building the new platform, Chief professionals significantly improved and modernized the existing implementation. This has established a robust foundation for ANWB, allowing them to continue iterating and enhancing their internal development processes.
The Chief professionals contributed not only to technical development but also helped elevate the ANWB team. By actively sharing knowledge, best practices, and coaching team members, they significantly enhanced the technical expertise within the ANWB team.
Thanks to the deployment of Chief professionals, the ANWB team has grown technically. Team members now possess greater knowledge and skills in modern frontend development, improving both collaboration and efficiency.
The new FOX Reizen platform offers a user-friendly and visually appealing interface. With its scalable architecture based on micro frontends, the platform can easily adapt to changing needs and a growing number of users.
Against expectations, the project was not only delivered on time but also included significant improvements and modernization of the previous implementation. This has enabled ANWB to work more efficiently and continue developing on the solid foundation that has been established.
With the support of Chief professionals, ANWB Reizen has successfully reintroduced FOX Reizen. Through a combination of technical expertise, knowledge sharing, agile decision-making, and a scalable infrastructure, FOX Reizen is now ready to inspire and serve a broad audience.
